Weaving The World weaves layers of material knowledge as well as haptic and technological correlations into a clear, geometrical form. Over the course of four years, daily and used commoditie were collected in Zurich, Switzerland, cut into fragments and woven together anew.
The title of the exhibition, Weaving the World, refers to the simultaneously local and global origin of the everyday commodities interwoven into the textile. Between the continuous, vertical threads of hemp rope, each material remains independently recognizable and becomes something new in combination with others. The result is a pictorial space that is both familiar and strange at the same time.
A space that unites materials, stories and MADE IN. Cables, LED strips, plastic packaging, jeans, sneakers, rabbit furs, silk robes, jute, leather, sponges, packaging materials, cashmere sweaters and rubber gloves are all woven into the textile, among others.
Collaboration with Seraina Bollinger.
Shown at Les Complices* 7.2.25-8.2.2025
